Ono's Goal Gives Hawks California Pacific Conference Title
San Rafael, CA — Senior Sukui Ono scored the game's lone goal in the 78:00 minute to give Holy Names a 1-0 win over defending champ Dominican University of California and clinching the 2006 Californa Pacific Conference Championship. The title was HNU's second in three seasons. Holy Names completed a perfect conference season, going 7-0, and earned an automatic berth to the NAIA Region II Tournament.
Goalie Andreas Lindstrom recorded four saves while shutting out the Penguins while Dominican goalie Todd Seech had 10 saves and gave up his only conference goal. Ono had an earlier chance to be the hero but had his penalty kick in the 62:00 minute blocked by Seech.
Holy Names advanced to their third straight Region II tournament, which they won in 2004. The Hawks, however, fell to the #4 Westmont College on November 1 in the first round game of the Region Tournament.
