Lady Hawks capture 2006 California Pacific Conference Championship
San Rafael, CA — In just their fifth year of existence, the
Holy Names Women's Soccer program put a stamp on their arrival by
clinching their first California Pacific Conference Championship with
a 0-0 double overtime draw against Dominican University of California.
Holy Names finished the conference schedule with a 5-0-1 record while
Dominican finished with a record of 4-0-2. Freshman Kayce Garica didn't
allow a goal for Holy Names while Tosca Bonardi did the same for Dominican.
With the tie, Holy Names advanced to their first NAIA Region II Tournament
appearance, where they were seeded fourth and found pitted against
fifth seed Westmont College, who came in ranked #7 in the country.
The Warriors defeated host Holy Names on October 31 in the first round
of the Region Tournament.
